PM Shehbaz Sharif Offers Condolences

The Prime Minister’s visit was a solemn occasion. He joined the fateha — the traditional Islamic prayer for the deceased — reciting verses for the peace of the departed soul and praying for patience and fortitude for the grieving family. Offering fateha in person is a deeply rooted practice in Pakistan, signalling respect for the departed and solidarity with the bereaved.

The gesture reflects the personal rapport between the Prime Minister and his cabinet members: in a moment of private grief, the head of government stood beside his Interior Minister, underscoring the human bonds that run through the country’s top leadership.

The meeting highlights how the leadership combines personal and official business: even a condolence call became an occasion to take stock of governance matters and the political landscape.
