Mindst fem personer er omkommet, efter at et fragtfly fra Amazon kørte af landingsbanen i Miami International Airport og brød i brand under landingen. Ulykken skete søndag eftermiddag lokal tid, efter at flyet var ankommet fra San Juan i Puerto Rico.

Amazon-fragtfly ramte køretøjer og brød i brand

Fragtflyet fra Amazon ramte flere køretøjer under landingen, og flere personer blev fastklemt i disse. Samtidig var der brand i flyets motordele, mens piloten og andenpiloten sad fastklemt i flyet. Redningsmandskabet stod over for en kompliceret indsats, da de skulle nå at redde de indesluttede.

Ulykkesstedet var svært tilgængeligt

Det vides endnu ikke, om de omkomne befandt sig i flyet eller i de køretøjer, som det ramte. Politichef Rosie Cordero-Stutz oplyser, at det er for tidligt at drage endelige konklusioner, da ulykkesstedet stadig er aktivt og omfatter både flyet og flere køretøjer.

Foruden de fem omkomne er tre personer alvorligt kvæstet, mens yderligere to er indlagt med mindre alvorlige skader. Myndighederne i Miami-Dade County oplyser, at de stadig er i gang med at undersøge årsagen til ulykken.
