The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has opened applications for a new GGGI Youth Ambassador Programme, tied to its annual flagship event, Global Green Growth Week 2026 in Seoul. The deadline for applications is 16 October 2026.

The programme is aimed at talented students and recent graduates who want to pursue internship opportunities across GGGI in 2027, according to the institute’s official announcement.

What the programme offers

Selected Youth Ambassadors will be invited to attend Global Green Growth Week activities in Seoul on 26, 27 and 29 October 2026, with an online briefing ahead of the event. They will sit in on high-level panels, technical sessions and discussions, gaining first-hand exposure to how governments, international organizations, businesses and investors work together to advance the green transition.

Global Green Growth Week 2026 runs under the theme “Powering the race for green transformation: Technology, capital and global cooperation at scale” and brings together senior leaders from governments, international organizations, business, finance, technology, academia and civil society. Attendees include Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations and President and Chair of the GGGI Assembly.

Sessions cover green growth, the energy transition, sustainable and green finance, carbon finance and Article 6, Green AI, innovation, investment and global cooperation.

From ambassador report to GGGI internship

The programme has a clear pathway into the institute’s workforce. After Global Green Growth Week, each Youth Ambassador submits a short report reflecting on the sessions attended and the ideas encountered.

Authors of the strongest reports will be selected for multiple internship opportunities across GGGI in 2027. The internships run for at least three months and up to six months, with interns receiving a monthly stipend of US$500. Travel, insurance, accommodation and living costs are borne by the interns themselves or by sponsoring institutions.

Who can apply

Applicants must be in the final year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD programme — or be recent graduates within the last 12 months — in a field related to GGGI’s work, have an excellent command of English, and be available for the briefing, the Seoul dates, and a 2027 internship. No previous professional experience is required.

Applications consist of a CV and a short cover letter explaining why the candidate wants to become a GGGI Youth Ambassador, their interest in green growth, climate action and sustainable development, what they hope to learn at Global Green Growth Week, and why they want a GGGI internship in 2027.

About GGGI

GGGI is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies. The institute encourages qualified women and men, particularly nationals of developing countries, to apply.
